Proven Grounds
The Mount Hope Project, in the Cobar Super Basin, shows significant potential for base metal discoveries. Historic mining at the Mount Hope copper mine produced 7,891 tonnes of copper at an average grade of ~10.5%, with operations ceasing at only 113 meters depth. Nearby historic mines like Comet and Great Central highlight the area’s mineralisation tied to key fault zones, offering excellent opportunities for further exploration using modern techniques.
Recent discoveries in the district, such as Federation and Mallee Bull, demonstrate the potential for uncovering blind mineralisation. A 2021 airborne electromagnetic survey identified ten high-priority targets in unexplored areas, complementing the project’s location near essential infrastructure and its rich mining history.

Mt Hope East
The Mt Hope East target, identified by Glencore, CSA Mine – Cobar Management Pty Ltd in a 2010/11 soil auger program. The program involved 378 samples on a 100 x 50m grid. Assays revealed a strong lead, copper, and zinc anomaly northeast of the historic mine, defining a 750m x 300m target area open to the east.

Black Hill
Shell Minerals Exploration Australia (ESSO) identified the Black Hill lead anomaly in 1977, 1.7km south-south-west of Mount Hope township and mine, associated with weathered siltstones. Although deemed to have “limited size potential” and left undrilled, CSA revisited it in 2010/11, confirming a 500m x 200m base metal (lead, copper, zinc) soil anomaly through an auger soil sampling program.

Little Mt Solitary
Located 500m southwest of the historic Mt Solitary gold mine. Lies at the intersection of west-north-west transfer structures and a north-north-east growth fault. A 2021 AEM survey by Geotech Airborne Pty Ltd identified three priority-1 bedrock conductors in the area, supported by soil geochemical anomalies and historic pit workings.

Main Road East
In 1991–1992, Renison Goldfields Consolidated Exploration (RGC) identified a 1000m x 400m soil geochemical anomaly at the Main Road East prospect, showing gold and base metal (copper, lead, zinc) concentrations. The anomaly coincides with a gossanous outcrop and a north-north-east structural fault zone.
